The inaugural event received good reviews from attendees considering this was the first festival of its kind in Moore County following a successful five-year run of the Concours d’Elegance vintage and rare car show in Pinehurst.

Brought to you by Horizon Hobby, it is scheduled in beautiful Monticello, Illinois at Eli Field. This two day event will feature an RC airshow, RC product demonstrations, giveaways and more! You'll also be able to get hands-on with all kinds of RC vehicles and aircraft.
This will be an AMA Sanctioned event so there will be open flying for pilots with an AMA membership. Refreshment vendors and a hobby retailer will be on site. Don't miss it! I've been a pilot since 1973 and started my engineering career in the aircraft industry.

See the high fence around the Pinehurst airport and the requirement for ID badges, lack of lower-cost Mogas and self-service fueling, demise of the very nice grass runway, etc.
Public events like this are important means to get the public into a cockpit. But frankly I think $5 is about the limit on what one ought to pay. $30 is way too high for most people.

No offense, but why does the military get a discount? They have the biggest pensions and many got free pilot training from taxpayers worth millions. Non-stop, high flying, radio controlled surface action! Not only can you watch the action you can also get your hands on the transmitter and join in the fun of RC rock crawlers, off-road vehicles and even boats!

The festival, presented by Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, will kickoff Friday, April 12, with a special VIP Hangar Party sponsored by the North Carolina Defense Business Association. That will be followed by a celebration concert featuring The Eagles tribute band “On the Border.”
Local ticket outlets to the 2019 Festival D'Avion include the Moore County Airport, the Country Book Shop and The Heritage Flag Co. in Southern Pines, Old Sport & Gallery and Villager Deli in the Village of Pinehurst, and Pinehurst Country Club (Pinehurst Members Only).
Local Harris Teeter grocery stores will begin selling tickets to the event in February. New for 2019 will be a “Junior Flyer” kids play zone with inflatable games and activities for kids, a Runway 5K fun-run on the airport taxiway and a Food Truck Fly-In with on-site food and beverages, including craft beer and
North Carolina wine. My husband and I won't be going back. The planes/helicopters exhibited were mostly very old and only one of them had the name of the aircraft. It was an unbearably hot day and there was almost no shade provided.
