A turboprop is an airplane with a turbine engine that drives a propeller. Unlike a jet, the engine's exhaust gases are insufficient to create enough thrust since. Instead, the energy turns the propeller. A compressor forces air and fuel into a combustor where it ignites, which then generates power to drive the propeller and the compressor.

For your training and preparation we have included a copy of the current Physical Aptitude Test in order to assist with your training. While you do not require these at the time of application, if you do not meet (and are not able to provide required evidence throughout the recruitment process) then your application is unable to be progressed any further.

The majority of aviation firefighters in Australia are employed by Airservices Australia in the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) service. Shiftwork is compulsory. The length of individual shifts varies between 10 and 16 hours, depending on the requirements of the location, with shifts organized around a rotating roster.
